Unlike you, I barely pay attention to the NBA, but I love college basketball. That's due largely to living in Chapel Hill for nearly 6 years. I challenge anyone to attend UNC and not be at least a little interested in how the Heels are doing.

I think the beauty of the NCAA tournament is that you never know what could happen. This year we saw two 15/2 seed upsets, and there hadn't been one such upset for 10 years! And, as you mentioned, one of those upsets was Duke, which just sweetened the whole deal. In the NCAA, a really good team can fly under the radar if they're in a weak conference. I guess I like exactly what you dislike--I think it's pretty cool when somebody you've never heard of before can suddenly become a hero for his team and school, even it's just for a few weeks in March. The superstars of the NBA get paid a lot of money for what they do. Most of these kids won't be in the spotlight again, but that doesn't stop them from playing their hearts out.
